Starting October 1, 2020, every passenger will need to present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, Enhanced Driver’s License, or another acceptable form of identification (such as a passport), to board federally regulated commercial aircraft within the U.S.
REAL ID is important! It prevents individuals from using fraudulent identification to board a plane, for example. REAL ID full enforcement will begin October 1, 2020, so travelers should prepare to bring proper identification to get through security.
If you do not have a valid passport you can use, you MUST make sure your driver’s license meets these requirements.
For more information on the requirements visit the TSA site.
For Michigan residents visit here to make sure your driver’s license is correct (hint: Look for a gold star in the upper right corner).
