Virgin Voyages Makes Changes to Popular MNVV Program

On August 6^th, Virgin Voyages changed the MNVV program so that you could no longer change the name on the placeholder certificate. This effectively closed a gray market of people purchasing MNVVs specifically to sell.

This name change restriction has not changed. If you purchase an MNVV in your name, you cannot change the name on that placeholder certificate.

They also announced that there would be some additional changes regarding booking windows and length of time to use the MNVV before it expired. Their recent announcement changed this.

Under the rules that went live on October 27^th, the following changes affect all MNVVs:

The MNVV must be used on a booking within 2 years of the purchase date. This means if you purchase an MNVV on January 10^th, 2027, you must make a booking with it by January 9^th, 2029.
There is no date restriction on what sailing the MNVV can be applied to. This means that if you purchase an MNVV, you can book any sailing that is available to purchase. This removes the previous restriction which said that it can only be used on sailings that start within 2 years of the MNVV’s purchase date.

While Virgin Voyages makes changes to the MNVV program, the benefits aren’t going away.

What’s the same?

The main thing is that the MNVV’s rewards have not changed. It’s still one of the most rewarding programs in the cruise industry. Between the price discount and onboard credit, having an MNVV still gives great value.

Sailing 4-5 days: $150 discount and $150 Sailor Loot (On Board Credit)
Sailing 6-8 days: $200 discount and $200 Sailor Loot (On Board Credit)
Sailing 9 days or more: $250 discount and $250 Sailor Loot (On Board Credit)

To purchase an MNVV, you still need to be onboard a Virgin Voyages cruise and put down a $150 deposit. When you convert the MNVV into a booking, that $150 deposit is still applied to the sailing as a payment.

What also hasn’t changed is the room restriction. The MNVV can only be booked on a standard Sea Terrace or better. No Lock-it-In, no Limited View Sea Terraces, or Insiders and Sea Views.
