Avoid Travel Money Mistakes: Don’t Get Huge Exchange Rates

  1. Don’t get foreign currency at currency exchange windows or kiosks at airports, you will pay huge fees. Never do this!
  2. Don’t answer yes when a credit or debit card transaction asks if you want to convert your payment to U.S. Dollars. It’s just another way to get more fees.
  3. Avoid multiple ATM cash transactions in a day. Unless your bank is waiving your ATM fees, those fees are racking up. And don’t use an ATM without checking the surroundings and making sure no one can see your pin entry.
